What Is a Solenoid Coil Connector?
A solenoid coil connector is a field-wireable plug that mounts onto the standardized pin/gasket pattern of a solenoid valve coil, most commonly to the DIN 43650 standard, which defines three interchangeable form factors (A, B, C) by physical size and pin spacing so connectors from different manufacturers can mate with coils from different valve manufacturers as long as the form and size match. This standardization is what lets a plant stock one connector line across solenoid valves from multiple brands rather than sourcing brand-specific cable assemblies.
Beyond basic wiring, most connectors add functional options: an integrated LED confirms the coil is energized without needing a meter, a surge suppression diode or RC network protects the driving PLC output or relay from the coil's inductive kickback, and IP65/IP67-rated gasket and cable gland designs keep the connection sealed in washdown or outdoor valve installations.

| Spec | What It Means | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| DIN Form | Form A, B, C per DIN 43650 | Determines physical size and pin spacing; must match the coil's mating pattern exactly |
| Voltage Rating | 24VDC, 120VAC, 240VAC common | Connector's LED and suppression components must be rated for the actual coil voltage used |
| LED Indication | None, single LED, bi-color LED | Provides visual confirmation of coil energization without needing a multimeter |
| Surge Suppression | None, diode (DC), RC network (AC) | Protects PLC outputs and relay contacts from the coil's inductive switching transient |
| Ingress Protection | IP65, IP67 sealed designs | Required for outdoor, washdown or dusty industrial valve installations |

FAQ
Solenoid Coil Connectors Questions, Answered
What does DIN 43650 Form A, B or C mean?
DIN 43650 defines three standardized physical sizes and pin-spacing patterns for solenoid coil connectors — Form A (the most common, larger footprint), Form B (a different pin spacing, less common in North America), and Form C (a smaller footprint for compact coils). The form and size must match the coil's connector pattern exactly; a Form A connector will not mate with a Form C coil.
Why does my connector need surge suppression?
A solenoid coil is an inductive load, and when it's de-energized it generates a voltage spike that can damage the driving PLC output, relay contact, or nearby electronics. A diode (on DC coils) or RC network (on AC coils) built into the connector absorbs this transient, which is especially important when a PLC's solid-state output is driving the coil directly.
Does the LED indicator work with any coil voltage?
No — the LED and its current-limiting resistor are matched to a specific voltage range (commonly 24VDC or a specific AC voltage), so an LED-equipped connector rated for 24VDC won't indicate correctly, and may be damaged, if wired to a 120VAC coil. Always order the connector rated for your actual coil voltage.
Can I use the same connector across different valve brands?
Yes, as long as the DIN form and size match — that's the point of the DIN 43650 standard. A generic Form A connector from any manufacturer will mate with a Form A coil from ASCO, Parker, Festo, or most other major solenoid valve brands.
What ingress protection rating do I need for an outdoor or washdown installation?
IP65 protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, suitable for most outdoor installations; IP67 adds protection against temporary submersion, which is preferred for washdown environments in food processing or areas prone to standing water.
