What Is a Hose Reel Accessorie?
Hose reel accessories are the individual replaceable components that make up a hose reel assembly — the swivel joint (allowing the hose to rotate freely on the reel without twisting or kinking as it winds), mounting brackets (fixing the reel to a wall, ceiling, cart or truck bed), guide arms (controlling hose feed angle and preventing the hose from rubbing on the reel frame), and latch or ratchet mechanisms (holding the hose at a set extended length). These wear or fail independently of the reel drum itself, making component-level replacement far more economical than replacing the entire reel.
Swivel joints must be pressure- and media-rated to match the hose's actual service — a swivel rated for water or air will fail quickly or leak under hydraulic fluid pressure, and thread size/type must match both the reel's inlet and the hose fitting exactly. Because reel models vary significantly between manufacturers, most accessory components are not universally interchangeable; matching to the specific reel brand and model (or at minimum, verifying thread size, swivel pressure rating, and mounting bolt pattern) is necessary before ordering a replacement.

| Spec | What It Means | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Component Type | Swivel joint, bracket, guide arm, latch mechanism | Each wears/fails independently — component-level replacement is more economical than full reel replacement |
| Pressure Rating | Matched to hose service (air, water, hydraulic) | A swivel rated for water/air will fail under hydraulic pressure — ratings are not interchangeable |
| Thread/Connection Size | NPT sizes matched to reel inlet and hose fitting | Must match both ends of the connection exactly to avoid leaks or requiring adapters |
| Reel Brand/Model Compatibility | Largely brand/model-specific fit | Mounting bolt patterns and component dimensions vary significantly between manufacturers |
| Media Compatibility | Seal material rated for air, water, oil, or chemical | Wrong seal material degrades quickly in contact with incompatible fluid |

Applications
Where Hose Reel Accessories Get Used
Hose reel accessories are specified anywhere an individual reel component has worn or failed and needs replacement rather than swapping the entire reel assembly.
Automotive & Fleet Service Bays
Replacing worn swivels and guide arms on air and lubrication hose reels in high-cycle shop environments.
Industrial Manufacturing Facilities
Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic hose reels used for tool and equipment power supply on the production floor.
Agricultural & Mobile Equipment
Repairing hose reel mounting hardware on trucks and mobile service units used for field lubrication and fluid service.
Car Wash & Pressure Washing Facilities
Replacing high-cycle-wear swivel joints and latch mechanisms on water hose reels in commercial washing operations.
Oil & Gas Field Service Units
Maintaining hydraulic hose reel components on service trucks operating in demanding field conditions.
Warehousing & Facilities Maintenance
General upkeep of air and water hose reel stations throughout a facility to prevent full reel replacement.
FAQ
Hose Reel Accessories Questions, Answered
Are hose reel accessories universal across brands?
Generally no — mounting bolt patterns, swivel thread sizes, and component dimensions vary between manufacturers, so a bracket or swivel from one brand often won't directly fit another brand's reel. Always identify your reel's brand and model, or at minimum measure the thread size and mounting pattern, before ordering a replacement component.
Can I use a water-rated swivel joint on a hydraulic hose reel?
No — swivel joints are pressure- and seal-material-rated for specific media, and a swivel designed for low-pressure water or air service will fail quickly, leak, or blow out under hydraulic system pressure. Always match the swivel's pressure rating and media compatibility to the actual fluid and pressure in your hose reel system.
What causes a hose reel swivel joint to leak?
Most commonly, worn internal seals from normal use and rotation cycles, or a mismatch between the swivel's media rating and the actual fluid/pressure being used, which accelerates seal wear. Physical damage from impact or improper hose alignment feeding into the swivel can also cause premature leaking.
Do I need to replace the entire reel if the guide arm breaks?
Usually not — guide arms are typically a bolt-on or pin-mounted component designed to be replaced independently of the reel drum and spring mechanism. Confirm the guide arm's mounting style and dimensions match your specific reel model before ordering a replacement rather than the full assembly.
How do I know what thread size my hose reel swivel needs?
Check both ends of the connection — the reel's inlet fitting size (commonly a standard NPT size) and the hose fitting it needs to mate with — since the swivel must match both sides. If the original swivel is still available, measuring or reading any stamped size markings on it directly is the most reliable way to confirm the correct replacement size.
