What Is a Router Accessorie?

Router accessories extend a handheld or table-mounted router beyond basic freehand cutting: edge guides reference a straight fence off the workpiece edge for parallel cuts, template guide bushings ride against a template to reproduce a pattern, and collets clamp the bit shank securely in the router's spindle. Bit shank diameter — most commonly 1/4 in or 1/2 in — must match the router's collet size, and 1/2 in shank bits generally run with less vibration and chatter at a given cutting load than 1/4 in shank bits of the same profile.

Do all router accessories fit any router brand?
