What Is a Relay Socket?
A relay socket is the fixed base that a plug-in relay inserts into, providing the electrical and mechanical interface between the relay's pins and the panel's field wiring without requiring the relay itself to be hard-wired or soldered in place. This lets a failed relay be swapped in seconds during troubleshooting or maintenance, which is the primary reason plug-in relay and socket combinations are preferred over hard-wired relays in most control panel designs.
