What Is a Pendant and Control Station Accessorie?
A pendant or control station combines an enclosure, one or more operator devices (push buttons, selector switches, e-stops) and, on suspended pendant stations, a cable grip that provides mechanical strain relief so the weight and pull of the cable is carried by the grip rather than the electrical terminations inside. Enclosure NEMA/IP rating is selected against the environment — NEMA 4 or 4X for washdown and outdoor exposure, NEMA 7/9 for hazardous locations with flammable gas or dust, and lighter NEMA 1 or 12 ratings for clean indoor plant floors.
Push buttons, selector switches and e-stops within a station are typically modular 22mm or 30mm industry-standard components that mount into a common panel cutout, which allows a damaged operator device to be replaced without swapping the entire station. E-stop buttons in particular are governed by machine safety standards requiring a positive-break, mushroom-head, maintained-contact design so that pressing it reliably interrupts the circuit and it cannot be released accidentally.

Why does the cable grip matter on a crane pendant station?
The pendant cable hangs under its own weight and is repeatedly flexed and pulled during operation. A properly sized cable grip (mesh grip or cord grip) clamps onto the cable jacket and transfers that mechanical load to the enclosure housing, keeping strain off the internal wire terminations — without it, repeated flexing at the termination point leads to conductor fatigue and eventual failure.
Can I replace just one push button in a station instead of the whole unit?
In most cases yes. Push buttons, selector switches and pilot lights in modern control stations are built as modular 22mm or 30mm units that mount into a standardized panel cutout, so a single failed component can be unbolted and replaced without disturbing the enclosure or other operator devices, as long as the replacement matches the mounting size and contact configuration.
What makes an e-stop button different from a regular push button?
E-stop (emergency stop) buttons are built to standards like ISO 13850 and IEC 60947-5-5, requiring a mushroom-shaped head for easy palm-strike activation, a positive-break contact mechanism that guarantees the circuit opens even if a contact welds shut, and a maintained (latching) action so the button stays engaged until manually twisted or pulled to reset — preventing an accidental bump from silently re-enabling the machine.
How do I know what contact configuration my replacement part needs?
Check the existing wiring or control schematic for the station: a normally open (N.O.) contact is open until the button is pressed, a normally closed (N.C.) contact is closed until pressed, and some stations use a combination block with both. The replacement operator device's contact block must match what the circuit expects, or the station's logic (start vs. stop function, fail-safe behavior) will be reversed or broken.
