What Is a Grease Gun Accessorie?
Hydraulic couplers connect the grease gun's delivery hose to a zerk (grease) fitting on the equipment, and are rated by working pressure and jaw configuration — a 4-jaw coupler grips more securely and resists slipping off under high pressure compared to a 3-jaw design, important when pumping against a partially blocked or high-resistance fitting. Extension hoses reach fittings in awkward or recessed locations that a rigid gun body can't access directly, and are rated for a maximum working pressure that must meet or exceed the grease gun's own output pressure.
Needle and point nozzles adapt the coupler end for fittings without a standard zerk head, such as button-head fittings or sealed bearings with a small access port — a needle nozzle pierces a rubber-sealed fitting to deliver grease without needing to remove a plug. Grease fittings themselves come in straight, 45°, and 90° angle configurations to suit clearance around the mounting location, and must match the equipment's tapped port thread (commonly 1/4-28 or 1/8-27 NPT) exactly.

| Spec | What It Means | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Coupler Jaw Type | 3-jaw, 4-jaw hydraulic coupler | 4-jaw grips more securely under high pressure and resists slipping off the fitting |
| Working Pressure Rating | Typically 4,000-15,000+ PSI | Coupler and hose rating must meet or exceed the grease gun's maximum output pressure |
| Hose Length | 12", 18", 24" common lengths | Must reach the fitting location without excessive slack that risks kinking or damage |
| Zerk Fitting Thread | 1/4-28 UNF, 1/8-27 NPT common | Fitting thread must match the tapped port exactly — mismatched threads won't seal or thread in |
| Grease NLGI Grade | NLGI 0, 1, 2 common consistency grades | Must match the equipment manufacturer's specified grease consistency for the application |

Applications
Where Grease Gun Accessories Get Used
Grease gun accessories are used anywhere manual or powered lubrication needs to reach a fitting that a plain grease gun coupler can't access directly or safely.
Heavy Equipment & Fleet Maintenance
Extension hoses and heavy-duty couplers reaching recessed grease fittings on construction and agricultural equipment.
Manufacturing Plant Maintenance
Scheduled lubrication of conveyor bearings, motor mounts and machine pivots using needle nozzles for tight-access fittings.
Automotive & Fleet Service
Standard hydraulic couplers and cartridges for chassis and suspension lubrication during routine service.
Agricultural Equipment Service
High-pressure couplers and extension hoses for lubricating farm equipment fittings exposed to heavy dirt and debris buildup.
Marine & Off-Road Equipment
Corrosion-resistant fittings and sealed-nozzle accessories for lubrication points exposed to water and harsh environments.

FAQ
Grease Gun Accessories Questions, Answered
What's the difference between a 3-jaw and 4-jaw grease coupler?
A 3-jaw coupler grips a zerk fitting with three points of contact, while a 4-jaw design adds a fourth, giving a more secure and even grip that's less likely to slip off the fitting under high pressure — especially useful on partially clogged fittings requiring higher pump pressure to clear.
Why would I need an extension hose instead of the grease gun's rigid delivery tube?
An extension hose is flexible and can reach fittings positioned in tight, recessed, or awkward locations that the gun's rigid tube can't physically align with — common on equipment with fittings tucked behind guards, frame members or other components.
What's a needle nozzle used for?
A needle nozzle has a thin, pointed tip designed to pierce through a rubber-sealed or button-head fitting that doesn't have a standard exposed zerk head — common on sealed bearings and certain automotive components — delivering grease without needing to remove a plug or access cover first.
How do I know what NLGI grade grease to use?
NLGI grade describes grease consistency (0 being softest, up to 6 being near-solid) — check the equipment manufacturer's lubrication specification, since using a grease that's too soft can allow it to run out of the bearing under heat and load, while too stiff a grease may not fully fill and lubricate small clearances.
What working pressure rating do I need for a coupler or hose?
Match the coupler and hose pressure rating to the grease gun's maximum output pressure, not just typical operating pressure — pneumatic and battery grease guns can generate significantly higher pressure than a manual lever gun, and an underrated coupler or hose risks failure or blowout under that higher pressure.
