What Is a Stretch Wrap Machine?
A stretch wrap machine applies pre-stretched polyethylene film around a palletized load to bind it into a single stable unit for shipping and storage, replacing manual hand-wrapping. Turntable machines rotate the load on a powered platform while a film carriage travels up and down a mast; rotary-arm machines instead rotate the film delivery arm around a stationary load, which suits unstable, very heavy, or floor-loaded items that shouldn't be spun.
Wrap force is controlled by the film delivery system's pre-stretch ratio (commonly 150%–300%), which elongates the film before it contacts the load, increasing yield per roll and containment force without added film thickness. Machines are rated by turntable weight capacity, maximum load height and diameter, and wraps-per-hour throughput, and must be matched to pallet dimensions and film gauge, not sized generically.

What does pre-stretch ratio mean and why does it matter?
Pre-stretch ratio is how much the film is elongated by powered rollers before it touches the load — for example, a 250% pre-stretch means 1 meter of unstretched film becomes 2.5 meters applied to the load. Higher pre-stretch increases the number of pallets wrapped per roll and can increase containment force for the same film thickness, directly lowering film cost per pallet without sacrificing load stability.
How do I size a stretch wrapper for my pallets?

What's the difference between cast and blown stretch film?
Cast film is extruded through a flat die, giving it high clarity, quiet unwind, and strong cling — good for general palletizing. Blown film is extruded through a circular die, giving it higher puncture and tear resistance and better load-holding force, making it preferable for sharp-edged or irregular loads even though it's noisier to unwind and typically costs more.
Do I need a semi-automatic or fully automatic stretch wrapper?
