About Wooster Brush

About Wooster Brush

The Wooster Brush Company was founded in 1851 when Adam Foss purchased a crate of hog bristles at an unclaimed freight auction and began producing handmade bristle paintbrushes in a small, two-story building in Wooster, Ohio, selling them door-to-door throughout the state. The company moved to Madison Avenue in Wooster in 1909, where its corporate office still stands today, more than a century later.

Wooster Brush built its reputation on genuine manufacturing innovation rather than just scale: the company invented the angle sash paintbrush, developed the 'Foss-set' process for cementing bristle into brushes, and was first to use nylon filaments to create brushes that performed well in latex paints. Wooster also created the Exploded-Tip process for soft brush flags and was the first manufacturer to introduce synthetic fabrics for roller covers, a material choice that later became an industry standard.

Today, Wooster Brush is the largest privately owned paint applicator manufacturer in the United States, producing more than 2,000 products for painters of every skill level from over 888,000 square feet of manufacturing, shipping, and warehousing space. On ChatMRO, buyers can ask for a specific Wooster Brush style, size, or roller cover and get matched directly to a verified supplier.
