About Thogus Products

About Thogus Products

Thogus was founded in 1950 under the name Master Mold and Die as a tool and die shop producing plastic injection molding tools, headquartered in Avon Lake, Ohio, and serving major automotive customers including Packard (later Delphi), Ford, Chrysler, and GM. In 1958, the founder expanded the business into molding itself after recognizing that customers were struggling with capacity constraints, giving rise to the company known as Thogus today.

To avoid the cost of purchasing fittings to plumb its molding tools, Thogus developed a proprietary plastic tube and hose fitting line that the company still sells today. Through the 1980s, Thogus expanded its injection molding customer base well beyond automotive into instrumentation, medical devices, food and beverage, and consumer products.

As its original tool makers approached retirement and molding became the dominant revenue stream, Thogus made the strategic decision to stop internal tool building and focus fully on contract injection molding manufacturing. In 2019, the company further expanded its capabilities by acquiring Proto Plastics Inc. (PPI), based in Tipp City, Ohio, and ChatMRO indexes the Thogus catalog so buyers can search by molded part type or proprietary fitting series.
