About Aeromotive
Aeromotive Fuel Systems
Aeromotive was founded in 1994 by Steve Matusek in Lenexa, Kansas, bringing an aerospace-industry background into the high-performance aftermarket fuel-delivery market. Matusek set out to apply the same materials, processes, and procedures used by major aerospace manufacturers to automotive fuel systems — a higher engineering bar than much of the performance aftermarket at the time.
The company's first product was a fuel rail mount regulator, quickly followed by the now widely recognized A1000 fuel pump. Aeromotive helped pioneer and refine the large-format electric fuel pump design that became a standard at race tracks for roughly two decades and remains among the most widely used pump architectures in performance fuel systems today.
The current catalog spans electric and mechanical fuel pumps, pressure regulators, filters, fuel cells, fuel rails, and complete bolt-in fuel systems for racing and street-performance vehicles. In 2020, Aeromotive was acquired by PerTronix, and the broader PerTronix Brands portfolio later merged with custom-chassis builder Roadster Shop in 2023, with the combined company now operating under the Roadster Shop name. ChatMRO helps performance shops and racers match pump flow rate, regulator pressure range, and fitting sizes against the Aeromotive catalog, and our team supports RFQ submissions for single builds or shop-volume orders.

Frequently asked questions
What made the Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump significant in the performance aftermarket?
The A1000 helped pioneer the large-format electric fuel pump design that became a standard fixture at race tracks for nearly two decades and remains one of the most widely used pump architectures in performance fuel systems today. It followed Aeromotive's first product, a fuel rail mount regulator, as the company's second major release.
Does Aeromotive make complete bolt-in fuel systems or just individual components?
Both — the catalog includes individual components like pumps, regulators, filters, and fuel cells, as well as complete bolt-in fuel systems designed for specific vehicle platforms. Bolt-in systems simplify installation for builders who don't want to source and match individual parts.
What's the difference between Aeromotive's electric and mechanical fuel pumps?
Electric fuel pumps run independently of engine speed and are typically mounted in-tank or inline, offering more consistent pressure across the RPM range, while mechanical pumps are driven directly off the engine (such as a camshaft lobe) and are more common on carbureted, naturally aspirated builds. The right choice depends on your engine configuration and fuel delivery demands.
Is Aeromotive still operating under its original name?
Aeromotive was acquired by PerTronix in 2020, and the broader PerTronix Brands portfolio later merged with chassis builder Roadster Shop in October 2023, with the combined company now operating under the Roadster Shop name. Aeromotive-branded fuel system products continue to be available through that organization.
How do I find the right Aeromotive fuel system part without an exact part number?
Describe the pump flow rate, regulator pressure range, or fitting size you need, and ChatMRO's AI will match it against the indexed Aeromotive catalog. This is especially useful for racers and performance shops building a custom fuel system where the exact part number isn't already known.
