About Ramsey Winch

About Ramsey Winch

Ramsey Winch traces its origins to 1944, when brothers Claude and Rayburn Ramsey founded Ramsey Brothers Tool & Die in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to manufacture parts, tools, and dies for Douglas Aircraft Company. In 1945 Claude Ramsey designed a front-mounted winch, the Model 101, whose success led the brothers to rename the business Ramsey Brothers Winch Company in 1947.

Claude Ramsey bought out his brother's interest in 1950, renamed the business Ramsey Winch Company, and formally incorporated it in 1959; his son William "Bill" Ramsey took over as sole owner in 1978. Across those decades the company built out a line of hydraulic and electric, worm gear and planetary gear winches, along with planetary hoists serving tow and recovery, oil and gas, utility, forestry, fire and rescue, and heavy hauling markets.

Ramsey Winch today operates as one of three subsidiaries under Ramsey Industries, alongside Auto Crane and Eskridge, and continues to produce product lines such as the PowerMaster series for power and utility work and the Wildcat series for oil and gas production. ChatMRO indexes the Ramsey Winch catalog so buyers can search by pulling capacity, gear type, or mounting configuration to find matching winches.
