About Radiac Abrasives

About Radiac Abrasives

Radiac Abrasives traces its history back to 1891, making it one of the longest-standing abrasives manufacturers in North America. The company operated as deSanno-Universal before adopting the Radiac trademark, which was established in 1929, and formally changed its name to Radiac in 1985.

Over the following decades Radiac grew through mergers with other abrasive manufacturers, most notably National, U.S. Diamond Wheel, Pacific Grinding Wheel, and Bates Abrasives, building a full-line catalog of more than 50,000 precision grinding products. Tyrolit, a global abrasives and grinding tool manufacturer, acquired Radiac in 2009, folding it into its international operations while retaining the Radiac name and U.S. manufacturing base.

Radiac operates three U.S. manufacturing locations in Salem, Illinois; Oswego, Illinois; and Marysville, Washington, supplying grinding wheels across aerospace, oil and gas, primary metals, and automotive markets. ChatMRO indexes the Radiac catalog so buyers can search by wheel diameter, bond type, or grit specification to find matching abrasives.
