About Joyce Dayton

About Joyce Dayton

Joyce/Dayton Corp traces its origin to 1873, when Jacob Joyce and Thomas Cridland founded the Joyce-Cridland Company in a small factory in Franklin, Ohio, manufacturing a new type of railroad jack known as Joyce's Patent. In the early 1900s the company expanded into jacks and lift equipment for automobile shops, service stations, and public transportation systems, and by 1965 Joyce jacks were supporting the Atlas rocket at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Manufacturing moved to a new facility in Portland, Indiana during the 1970s, when the company officially adopted the name Joyce/Dayton Corp, and operations later centered in Kettering, Ohio. The company specializes in linear motion solutions including mechanical screw jacks, electric cylinders and actuators, and complete lift systems, and it was acquired by Graham Holdings in May 2014.

With a 150-year engineering history spanning railroad jacks to precision linear actuators for modern automation, Joyce Dayton supplies lifting and positioning equipment to industrial, aerospace, and heavy equipment customers. ChatMRO indexes the Joyce Dayton catalog so buyers can search by jack capacity, stroke length, or actuator configuration to find matching parts.
