About Haskel

About HaskelHigh-Pressure Equipment

Haskel was founded in 1946 by Richard Hayman and Don Driskel, and was formally incorporated as Haskel Engineering and Supply Company in 1952 before adopting the Haskel International name in 1986. Over more than 80 years, the company built its reputation as a global leader in high-pressure engineering, designing pumps, gas booster systems, compression solutions, and valves for mission-critical applications across aerospace, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing.

Haskel expanded its product range with air pressure amplifiers in the 1970s, and in 1999 completed a significant acquisition of BuTech, a 30-year-old Erie, Pennsylvania manufacturer that had long supplied Haskel with high-pressure valves, fittings, and tubing. This acquisition consolidated complementary high-pressure component expertise under one roof, strengthening Haskel's ability to deliver complete high-pressure systems rather than standalone pumps.

Haskel has changed ownership several times over the past three decades, moving from a 1999 buyout by Tinicum and Edmundson International, to a 2004 sale to Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation (a division of United Technologies), and most recently to Ingersoll Rand in 2019. ChatMRO helps engineering and maintenance teams source Haskel pumps, boosters, and amplifiers by matching exact pressure rating and port configuration requirements against verified stock.

Frequently asked questions

Who founded Haskel and when?

Haskel was founded in 1946 by Richard Hayman and Don Driskel. The company was later incorporated as Haskel Engineering and Supply Company in 1952 before taking the Haskel International name in 1986.

What products does Haskel manufacture?

Haskel manufactures high-pressure pumps, gas booster systems, compression solutions, valves, and air pressure amplifiers. These products serve mission-critical applications across aerospace, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing.

What was the significance of Haskel's BuTech acquisition?

Haskel acquired BuTech, a 30-year-old Erie, Pennsylvania manufacturer of high-pressure valves, fittings, and tubing, in 1999. BuTech had already been a key supplier to Haskel, and the acquisition consolidated complementary high-pressure component expertise under one company.

Who owns Haskel today?

Haskel was acquired by Ingersoll Rand in 2019, following earlier ownership periods under Tinicum and Edmundson International starting in 1999, and Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation starting in 2004. Despite these ownership changes, Haskel has continued operating as a high-pressure equipment leader throughout.

When did Haskel add air pressure amplifiers to its lineup?

Haskel introduced air pressure amplifiers to its product range in the 1970s. This expansion built on the company's core high-pressure pump expertise and broadened its applications across industrial and laboratory settings.
