About Grace TechnologiesElectrical Safety Solutions
Grace Technologies traces its origins to 1993, when a system integrator known as Grace Engineering was working on a friction welder retrofit project at John Deere and encountered a hazardous electrical safety problem. The machine's I/O was located at the front of the equipment while the electrical panel, carrying a 250 horsepower drive and a 400 amp main feed, sat at the rear, meaning the only way to access programming during maintenance was to open the panel doors and expose technicians to potential arc flash or shock hazards.
Founder and inventor Phil Allen's team, operating as Grace Engineered Products, solved the problem by developing GracePort, a panel interface connection housed in a UL Type 4 rectangular enclosure that let technicians access programming ports without opening the panel at all. That thru-door access concept, introduced roughly three decades ago, remains as relevant today as it was then, and it set the stage for Grace's expansion into GracePESD absence and presence of voltage indicators and related electrical safety portals.
In 2020, the company changed its name to Grace Technologies to better reflect the breadth of its modern product offering beyond its original panel-interface roots. ChatMRO helps electrical maintenance teams source Grace Technologies' GracePort connectors, voltage indicators, and panel safety hardware, matching exact enclosure rating and panel specification requirements against verified stock.

Frequently asked questions
How did Grace Technologies get its start?
Grace Technologies began in 1993 as Grace Engineering, a system integrator that encountered a hazardous electrical access problem while retrofitting a friction welder at John Deere. The solution it developed to that problem became the company's founding product.
What is GracePort?
GracePort is Grace Technologies' panel interface connector, housed in a UL Type 4 rectangular enclosure, that allows technicians to access programming ports without opening an energized electrical panel. It was developed by founder Phil Allen's team to eliminate the arc flash and shock risk of opening panel doors for routine maintenance.
When did the company change its name to Grace Technologies?
The company changed its name from Grace Engineered Products to Grace Technologies in 2020. The rename was made to better align with the modern scope of its electrical safety product offering.
What is a GracePESD?
GracePESD refers to Grace Technologies' absence and presence of voltage indicators and related electrical safety portals. These products let technicians visually confirm whether a panel or circuit is energized before opening it.
Who founded Grace Technologies?
Grace Technologies was founded by Phil Allen, an inventor who led the original Grace Engineering team that developed the GracePort solution in 1993. His work established the thru-door access concept that still underpins much of the company's current product line.
