About Acudor Products
Acudor Products Access DoorsNelson Industrial
Acudor was established in 1976 as part of Nelson Industrial Inc., a North American manufacturer of architectural metal products headquartered near Toronto, Canada. Since then, the company has built out a catalog of nearly 100 access doors, roof hatches, smoke vents, floor doors, and ladder and safety accessories for commercial and institutional buildings.
More than 20% of Acudor's output is custom fabrication rather than standard catalog sizing, which distinguishes the company from manufacturers that only offer fixed dimensions. Its factory runs modern fabrication equipment including shearing, saw-cutting, CNC turret punching, stamping, laser cutting, precision brake forming, and drilling and machining, working in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials.
Acudor is ISO 9001:2008 certified and has supplied access products for walls, ceilings, floors, and roofs to customers across North America and the Middle East for more than 40 years. ChatMRO helps facilities managers and contractors match door size, fire rating, and mounting surface against the Acudor catalog, and our team supports RFQ submissions for standard or custom-fabricated orders.

Frequently asked questions
Can Acudor supply custom-sized access doors that don't match standard dimensions?
Yes — more than 20% of Acudor's production is custom fabrication, and the factory is equipped with CNC turret punching, laser cutting, and precision brake forming to produce nonstandard sizes in steel, stainless steel, or aluminum. Provide your exact opening dimensions and material preference for a custom quote.
What's the difference between an Acudor roof hatch and a smoke vent?
A roof hatch is primarily designed for personnel or equipment access to a roof, while a smoke vent is engineered to automatically open and release smoke and heat during a fire event as part of a building's life-safety system. Confirm which function you need since the two serve different code requirements.
Does Acudor make floor doors rated for vehicle or heavy equipment loads?
Acudor's floor door line is designed for various loading requirements depending on the model, and the company's custom fabrication capability can address specific load rating needs beyond the standard catalog. Specify your expected load (pedestrian, light equipment, or vehicle traffic) when requesting a quote.
Is Acudor certified to any quality or manufacturing standards?
Yes — Acudor is ISO 9001:2008 certified, reflecting consistent quality control across its access door, roof hatch, and floor door manufacturing. This certification is often relevant for institutional and government building specifications.
How do I find the right Acudor access door without an exact model number?
Describe the opening size, mounting surface (wall, ceiling, or floor), and any fire-rating requirement, and ChatMRO's AI will match it against the indexed Acudor catalog. This is especially useful for facilities teams replacing an access door where the original model tag is missing or illegible.
