A commercial electric tankless water heater heats water on demand using resistive heating elements as it flows through the unit, rather than storing pre-heated water in a tank. A flow sensor activates the elements only when a fixture is opened, and multi-chamber or multi-element models stage additional heating capacity on as flow rate increases.
